II Poha Cutlets II


  • 1 cup Poha
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 3 medium Potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1-2 Green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 7-8 cashew nuts, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp. Red Chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp All purpose flour (Maida)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • Oil
  • Wash poha and Soak it in water for five minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, chopped onions, two tablespoons of refined flour and roast for two to three minutes.
  • Add red chili powder, chopped green chilies, turmeric powder, stir and mix well. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture into a bowl.
  • Add soaked poha, mashed potatoes, salt, chopped coriander leaves, chopped cashew nuts and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a cutlet.
  • Heat enough oil in a kadhai and deep fry the cutlets till golden brown.
  • Drain onto a paper towel and serve hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup.
