II Prawn Curry (Shorwedaar Jheenga) II

Ingredients: (Serves 4)

  • 5 cups prawns / shrimps (peeled)
  • 1large onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 1tbsp grated ginger
  • 2 green chilies (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1tsp sugar
  • 2tbsp curd / plain yogurt
  • 4tbsp ghee
  • 11/4th cup water

Spices :

  • 5 cloves
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2tsp red chili powder

Preperation :

  • Heat the ghee in a large saucepan and fry the onions until golden.
  • Drain the onions and set aside.
  • Add the coconut flour, ginger, green chili to the ghee remaining in the pan, together with all spices.
  • Fry gently for 2-3 minutes then stir in the salt, sugar and curd. Continue cooking for few minutes then add prawns.  Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Add the water, cover and leave to simmer foe 20-25 minutes, or until prawns are cooked fully.
  • Serve hot sprinkled with the hot  fried onions.
